Thirteen. Today our daughter turned thirteen. It arrived so fast, like the blink of an eye that people tell you about but you never believe. I remember the day she was born. I was 16 years old, just a child myself and now responsible for this beautiful baby girl that I held. Since that day, we really have grown up together and she has taught me so much and has made me a better person. She is a beautiful, gentle, respectful, smart and kind young lady with so much to give and look forward to. Every single time I look at her, I can see glimpses of the strong woman she will become. I cannot wait to watch the years ahead unfold and see all the amazing things she will accomplish. I am amazed daily that the little newborn I once held, is now this bright young lady who inspires me.
My daughter is growing up before my very eyes into a strong, smart, beautiful young lady. She is going into 7th grade this year and I have no idea where that time from when she was just a toddler until now went. It’s crazy how life goes by so fast when you blink. It was a beautiful foggy morning so we decided to do a little mini session just in our backyard. Every time I look at these I can see glimpses of the woman she is going to be.

Summer took it’s time getting to us and the gardens are feeling it. But it’s so nice to finally see them taking off. Little man helps me a lot and loves to help thin things out because he then can see how big things are growing. Carrots still have a little ways to go! 😉

Summer has been crazy busy for us and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Littles are enjoying their break from school and I am so enjoying the warmth and all the craziness of Summer activities! I love following the boys around on their bikes watching them explore. I went with the littlest out in the backyard on his trail, which is his favorite place right now. I love just listening to him tell me about all his secret spots and hideouts.

I am the city girl who fell in love with a country boy. We got married young and are now celebrating 12 years of marriage this weekend! This city girl now lives in the country raising our three littles. His parents have a hobby farm just across the hay field from us. My littles get to help out with everything on the farm and it’s their favorite thing. I love that they are growing up in open spaces and have all the adventures they want. Growing up in the city I never experienced this and even though the city is great, there is just nothing like growing up in the country and I am blessed enough to view that through my littles. This last weekend they were preparing the fields for planting oats and hay. My littles were picking rocks off the fields for hours and hours, walking up and down the fields over and over. But they are hard little workers and love helping out. Even this city girl helped a bit…I have the sunburn and sore legs to prove it. I braved the dust to share just a glimpse into field work. And of course everything at sunset is just more magical.

It has been a LONG Winter and Spring is just not feeling like Spring here in Minnesota! Pretty sure Mother Nature forgot about us this year. It is still cold and we just can’t seem to find the warmth. As the snow finally finds the way out…this begins.
Where there is water….you will find little boys.
